Costume preparation

The costumes were key in conveying certain ideas about the age of the protagonist, Sasha, as she is shown as both a 17 and 30 year old in Seventeen so I chose a simple white hoodie with black jeans and sneakers for our actress to wear, as typical to teenagers, in the scenes where Sasha was 17 whereas I instructed her to dress in all black attire to make her look older in the scenes Sasha was 30. The colour of the costumes was deliberately chosen to add deeper meaning, as Sasha wears white and black clothes when 17, signifying her youth, innocence and the balance of light and darkness in her life whereas at 30, she's shown wearing all black, with black symbolising her loss of innocence and the darkness consuming her life.

Budget

Risk assessment

I found this risk assessment template on the internet and Sarah and I filled it out together, assessing every scene for any possible hazards it contained that could pose a risk.

Auditions and finalising cast

Sarah and I reached out to our friends who were interested in acting in our film and then held auditions for the role of our character, Sasha. We chose to cast Javeriya, the girl auditioning last, as we're confident in her acting abilities, and liked her responsiveness and ability to take direction, and her passion for acting.
