Idea development

I was resolute from the beginning on having a female character as the protagonist of the film and Sarah agreed with me on it. Sarah and I also wanted the focus of the film to be the issue of identity and how we as human beings grapple with it as our identities mutate over time, as we grow up during our teens and shift into adulthood. Initially, the idea for the plot was a girl running from an undisclosed entity in a forest but after brainstorming, our idea mutated over time into showing the coming of age of our female character, Sasha, when she's seventeen years old from her perspective as an adult as she struggles to deal with what led her to become who she is in the present moment. Ideas for the titles were (in)congruous, to illustrate the conundrum faced by her as she is unwillingly forced to blend in with the masses as an adult despite her ardent desire to strike out against her own and blaze her own trail as a teenager, or seventeen, as that is the age at which the event that will irrevocably change who she is and the course of her life transpires.
